Test optional frequent questions
Q: Is the test optional policy permanent?
A: No, the pilot will continue through applicants applying for AU24 and AU25.
Q: Is there guidance about if I should include test scores?
A: Ohio State’s middle 50% for the admitted class was 28-33 ACT and 1340-1480 SAT.
This can be a guide around the decision to submit scores. Since there is no cut off, decisions
are contingent upon the make up of the applicant pool.
Q: Can I change my mind after I submit my application?
A: Students may change their selection until the Early Action deadline (Nov. 1) for EA
applicants, and by Feb. 1 for regular decision applicants with no specific reason needed.
After these deadlines, students may update their choice to no test considered if their test
option is cancelled.
Proof of English proficiency
• TOEFL (internet-based test or internet-based
test Home Edition): 79 or higher
• IELTS or IELTS Indicator: 6.5 or higher
• ACT: 21 or higher on the English section
• SAT: 27 or higher on the Reading Test
• Duolingo: 120 or higher (new)
English proficiency exemption
• Completed three full years of school at a U.S. regionally
accredited high school
• Citizen of, or have received a bachelor’s degree from,
Australia, Belize, British Caribbean, British West Indies,
Canada (except Quebec), England, Ghana, Guyana, Ireland,
Liberia, New Zealand, Nigeria, Scotland, Singapore, the
United States or Wales.

• Deny to the Columbus campus (non-residents and international)
• Defer to be considered again during the mid-March review once all
applications are received

• View student application status from your school for first-
year (decisions and merit scholarship awards for the
Columbus campus)
• First year student enrollment to verify who needs a final
high school transcript

• Access is not granted immediately, please plan 2-3 business days.
Remember to request it in advance of when you need it

Top first-year students will be considered for early admission to nursing
• Select pre-nursing on the Common Application
• Must be in top 5% of their graduating class
• Have 26 ACT math (610 SAT Math) or higher
• If test not considered, strong performance in high school, including math
• Students selected based on their admissions application
• Goal is to fill 60 spaces in first year class
