NRC - National Regional Component SCFSmall Communities Fund
Background
Provincial - Territorial Infrastructure Component (PTIC) is a federal
infrastructure program that recognizes and supports the important role that
provinces, territories, and municipalities play in helping build Canada’s public
infrastructure.
The NWT received a total allocation of $258 million under the PTIC. Of that,
15% is allocated to community governments:
o 10% under the Small Communities Fund (SCF); and
o 5% under the National Regional Component (NRC).
Community government received an allocation towards which they are asked to
identify a project and submit an application. Allocations were determined on a
0.5% base plus a formula top up based on the capital funding formula. The
remaining 85% of PTIC-NRC was allocated to the GNWT Department of
Transportation.
NWT community governments will submit SCF project applications to the
GNWT through scheduled periodic application intakes.
The City of Yellowknife has been allocated funding through the NRC and not
the SCF. The City will be submitting their project interest and associated
Business Plan for the NRC by the end of June 2016.
Questions on the program or the allocations can be directed to MACA Regional
Superintendents.
